Author: Ken Ming Tan

Tan Ken Ming (b. 1998) is a Malaysian visual artist based in Kuala Lumpur recognised for his vibrant, imaginative works that blend realism with fantasy. Diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome and inattentiveness in early childhood, Ken Ming received early therapeutic support that helped him develop essential communication and social skills. Art became both his expressive language and a defining pathway in shaping his creative identity. From a young age, Ken Ming demonstrated a natural passion for drawing. With continuous family support, he pursued formal art training after completing his IGCSE education and has since refined his techniques through years of guided practice and independent exploration. Deeply inspired by animals, nature, mythology, anime, and fantasy, Ken Ming’s artworks often merge the real with the imagined. His compositions are characterised by vivid colour palettes, intricate details, and symbolic storytelling, reflecting a distinctive worldview shaped by curiosity, sensitivity, and imagination.
